چکیده

The babassou plant (Attalea speciosa Mart. Ex. Spreng, Arecaceae) is an important palm tree in the state of Maranhão, northeastern Brazil. This main arboreal component extensive geographical areas including agricultural areas. However, limited research studies exist on its role as alternative pest host this region. study investigated occurrence Tibraca limbativentris Stal (1860) young trees, effect abiotic factors (temperature, solar radiation and rainfall) number T. adults postures, insect’s spatial arrangement during rice crop off-season. team inspected plants a monthly basis 2012 2013 to collect quantify postures adults. They collected total 1418 live adults, 13 dead ten limbativentris. There was significant difference between first other collections carried out 2013. Abiotic rainfall, temperature radiation, had no influence (alive dead) postures. semivariogram adjusted Gaussian model showed that 2013, distribution living aggregate pattern, highly dependent season. there pure nugget effect. These results imply are hosts.

Spatial Distribution of Stink Bugs (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) in Wheat

A two-year study was conducted in South Carolina wheat (Triticum aestivum L. (Poales: Poaceae)) fields to describe spatial and temporal dynamics of stink bugs (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), which were sampled weekly with sweep nets. In 2010, the main phytophagous stink bugs caught in a grid sampling plan across two fields were the brown stink bug, Euschistus servus (Say), the rice stink bug, Oebalu...

Paraedessa, a new genus of Edessinae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Pentatomidae).

The new genus Paraedessa is proposed, to include four species previously placed in Edessa. The new genus is characterized by males with the pygophore showing a lateral expansion of proctiger, and females with gonocoxites 8 reduced; gonapophyses 8 exposed and sclerotized. The species are very similar and their identification is possible only by comparing genitalia. New combinations proposed are ...

Factors influencing mate choice in Euschistus conspersus Uhler (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae).

The patterns of mating and possible factors influencing mate choice in the consperse stink bug, Euschistus conspersus Uhler, were studied in a series of laboratory experiments. Males were found to transfer a significant percentage of their body mass during the initial mating. Mating was also found to reduce male longevity by 37.8% but had no significant effect on female longevity or fecundity. ...

Meiotic behavior and karyotypic variation in Acledra (Pentatomidae, Heteroptera).

Acledra comprises 15 taxonomically identified species, most of which are crop pests. This is the first cytogenetic study of species of this genus. Acledra kinbergii and A. modesta showed the modal number of the Pentatomidae (2n = 14 = 12 + XY), while A. bonariensis had a reduced complement (2n = 12 = 10 + XY), with a markedly larger autosomal pair. Meiotic behavior follows the general pattern o...

Thestral incognitus, a new genus and species of Pentatomidae from Chile (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae: Pentatominae: Carpocorini).

Thestral incognitus, new genus and species of Pentatomidae (Pentatominae: Carpocorini) is described from central Chile. The relationships among this new genus and other South American genera are discussed.  Also, similarities are noted between Thestral and the Australian genus Poecilotoma. Poecilotoma is tentatively placed in the Carpocorini. A key to aid in the recognition of the genera of Chi...
